Explicit : as said in the welcome page, this is the knowledge that can be easily recorded in any kind of "Information objects" and that is generally subjected to Quality Assurance. The more the organization is regulated (nuclear, pharmaceutical), the more it will set-up a QA/QC environment to comply with standards (ISO 9001 or similar...) and regulations (NUREG, NSS, GMP, ICH,...). If you don't comply with such regulations, you can be removed from the market.
Implicit (Tacit): refer generally to any informal, experiential knowledge not easily documented. This type of knowledge capture need special tools like mentoring, storytelling, internal communities of practice. This focus could differentiate your services further by addressing a critical KM challenge. There is a slight theoretical difference between Implicit and Tacit... but practically, no one cares... To be clear, no company is obliged to set-up an Implicit KM process. It is your choice to adopt it or to deny it. By starting it, you will push your organization to create collective intelligence.
